چکیده
In clinical laboratories, the diagnosis of parasite diseases can sometimes be challenging for non-expert microbiologists. Indeed, in spite advent molecular biology, macroscopic and microscopic examinations still remain essential. Nonetheless, it is usually not automated requires great skills to complete correct diagnosis. It infrequent that inert elements mislead erroneous diagnoses. Through three different concrete examples, this article aims at underscoring actual risk misidentification highlighting systematic approach conducted order enable reliable

Can Macrothrombocytopenia Mislead the Treatment of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura?
Idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by isolated thrombocytopenia and mucocutaneous bleeding. The former has a primary role in the diagnosis and treatment of ITP. One of the leading causes of miscounted platelets in patients who suffer from ITP is giant platelets which may indicate factitiously a severe false thrombocytopenia. Here, a case of macroth...
متن کاملSome heat engine cycles in which liquids can work.
Liquids can work in heat engine cycles that employ regeneration. Four such cycles are discussed: Stirling, Malone, Stirling-Malone, and Brayton. Both regeneration and the role of the second thermodynamic medium are treated, and the principles are verified by quantitative measurements with propylene in a Stirling-Malone cycle.
متن کاملHow probabilistic risk assessment can mislead terrorism risk analysts.
Traditional probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), of the type originally developed for engineered systems, is still proposed for terrorism risk analysis. We show that such PRA applications are unjustified in general. The capacity of terrorists to seek and use information and to actively research different attack options before deciding what to do raises unique features of terrorism risk assessme...
متن کاملSharing some interim data in trial monitoring can mislead or unmask trial investigators_ A scenario-based survey of trial experts
Background: Sharing masked interim results by the Data Safety Monitoring Board (DSMB) with non-DSMB members is an important issue that can affect trial integrity. Our survey's objective is to collect evidence to understand how seemingly masked interim results or result extrapolations are interpreted and discuss whether these results should be shared at interim. Methods: Conducted a 6 scenario-q...
